Values and Philosophy
Therapy is a healing relationship in which we learn to let go of judgment, cope with change, celebrate wildly and grieve fully. My clients are warriors, daring bravely to look in the mirror and cultivate compassion for what they see. I believe that the essence of bravery is to face those places that scare us, but bravery does not mean facing these places alone. I come alongside my clients in the pain, beauty, and complexity of their lives.

As Pema Chödrön writes, “Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.” My clients and I journey to discover what it is that their emotions, sensations, and behaviors can teach us about strength and health. We use humor, transparency, and trust to create a space that allows for great healing.

Training and Experience
I received my bachelor’s degree from a small Midwestern liberal arts college, where I majored in psychology. During several undergraduate internships, I focused on spiritual development, humanitarian disaster relief, and eating disorder recovery. I attended The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s program for mental health counseling, and achieved my masters with emphases on trauma and sexuality. While completing my masters, I worked at Center on Halsted, assisting members of the LGBTQ+ community in matters of identity development, grief and loss, spirituality, relationships issues, depression and anxiety. I have attended numerous trainings in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a successful intervention for trauma and related disorders. Outside of Live Oak, I serve as Director of Communications and Clinical Associate at a group private practice in Evanston.
