Values & Philosophy

I want to help my clients see that our lives are remembered through the systems we belong to. When there is turmoil in any of these systems, they may bring on depression, anxiety, anger, and trauma. But I also believe the healthy ties we have with one another can heal us when we are stuck. My approach is to use clients’ strengths and relationships to remove obstacles that hinder growth, healing, and empowerment.

My strong belief in the power of healthy relationships comes from my own upbringing by a strong, widowed mother, chosen family, and resilience . From these experiences I orient my therapeutic philosophy; our early ways of relating to the world stay with us as skills to cope and survive.

I use Emotion-focused therapy, an approach focusing on relationships and emotion regulation with sensory mindfulness. This focuses on using the senses as evidence of an experience. With couples, Poly relationships, and families, my Marriage and Family therapy training guides my work and philosophy. As a member of the LGBTQ community, exploring intersectionality is a dynamic I strive for.Sex-positive, LGBTQ affirming, and Kink and Poly awareness is present throughout all my practice.

Therapy is both a safe place and a brave space where I will provide a listening and empathetic ear for healing. You as the client hold the power to steer your story and you are the only expert on yourself. It is my hope to help remove obstacles to growth and help heal.
