Our relationship to our body’s shape and size is a complex one. When we enter into work with clients that feel vulnerable about their body, it can sometimes feel difficult or scary to build interventions that focus on healing and repairing that relationship. In this workshop, we will work to build a toolbox of skills for empowering our clients and ourselves towards a positive relationship with the body, whatever its shape or level of function. Through group work, dyad work, and discussion, we will explore our own reactions and practice tools and techniques using case examples from your own experiences.

Goals of Today’s Training:

  • Provide clinicians with accurate information about the relationship between fatness and health.
  • Encourage clinicians to examine their personal biases around body size and health and encourage them to be more flexible in how they view and discuss bodies.
  • Participants will build familiarity and comfort with clinical discussion around body size
  • Participants will broaden their knowledge of different types of interventions used in supporting clients around body love and health goals.
