Sexual Diversity, Sex Positivity, and Kink
This workshop will focus on developing sex-positivity and a broader recognition of sexual diversity. Facilitators will identify biopsychosocial components of sex, and will emphasize pleasure over behavior as the primary marker of sexual health. Participants will evaluate their own existing sexual beliefs and values, while gaining familiarity and comfort with clinical concerns and therapeutic discussion around sex and kink. Participants will be presented with a model of sexual health, and will further be introduced to guidelines for practicing safer sex in kink contexts.
Goals:
- Participants will build familiarity and comfort with clinical discussion around sex and kink
- Participants will learn a sex-positive framework for discussing sex and kink with their clients
- Participants will broaden their knowledge of different types of sex practices as well as guidelines for practicing safer sex in kink contexts
- Participants will evaluate their own existing sexual beliefs and values that impact clinical work and therapeutic interaction
- Participants will develop a pleasure-focused definition of sexual health, and will develop a biopsychosocial lens to address sexual concerns
