I am a licensed psychologist who has lived experiences as a queer, non-binary, neurodivergent, recovering PhD student. I strongly believe that building a relationship where I earn your trust is the most important part of therapeutic practice, including in psychological evaluation and assessment. This trust also includes taking your perspective given your identities, experiences, and the oppressive harm you have experienced. In this relationship (no matter how short) we will practice consent, boundary-setting, and communication so you can work to translate these skills into your everyday life.
My aim is to help people in whatever format makes sense for them, focusing on their perspectives and values. I am a KPACT member (Kink and Polyamory Aware Chicago Therapists) and have specialized training working with somatic regulation, neurodivergence, substance use/abuse and harm reduction, self-harm/suicidal ideation, and chronic conditions. I believe the personal and the professional are political; I strive to center decolonization in all forms of work.
For me, this looks like questioning cultural agreements and bringing critical analysis to the ways I’ve been influenced by academia and the monetization of healing. I believe in bringing honest interrogation to the foundations of the field of psychological assessment and its roots in white supremacy, particularly its contributions to systemic and individual harm. As we explore utilizing the tools of psychological assessment, we will apply a harm reduction lens, centering consent and agency along the way.
