Values & Philosophy

Therapy with me:

  • Often people come to see me in times of life where what they learned and knew intimately may begin to blur the lines between helpful and hurtful. In the weekly time we carve out, I hope we can explore and hold the multiple truths that exist all at once while also tuning in to your needs so that the therapy space might be a steady container for mistakes, re-dos, exploration, sadness, grief, and bravery to happen at your unique pace.
  • I blend multiple therapeutic practices to provide personalized care for individuals, relationships, and families, with a strong emphasis on client-led, systemic, humanistic, and emotion-focused therapies. I am guided by my values of curiosity, openness, authenticity, and humor – as I hope to co-create a therapeutic space that allows imagination and exploration! I will sit with you in witnessing the self-loathing given to us by the systems around us, grieving and acknowledging the pain and shame that came alongside it.

Things to know about me:

  • I have a background in family law/legal, including experiences that may highlight the black and white. This informs my desire to help people move to the intentional practice of gray, ambiguity, slower pacing, and rejecting efficiency in our own identity work.

Words that come to mind when I think about how I am as a therapist are:

  • special, sacred, absolutely imperfectly perfect practice, attunement, presence, humanity, being with, one’s own work, identities both seen and unseen, practicing what could be, acknowledging/embracing and then re-inventing or becoming what might serve your identities and experiences better going forward.

Times when I feel in touch, attunement, or awe and can embrace human complexity and uniqueness, all while feeling even more connected:

  • In nature, during live performances (music, theater, poetry, dance, magic shows), eating delicious food and preparing and sharing food in community, biking through Chicago, jumping into water and swimming, sharing in my friends and family’s traditions or meaningful ceremonies, laughing with my partner, friends and family, walking with my dog, traveling to a new place and speaking openly with new people.
