A message from Live Oak during the COVID-19 pandemic

By Bukky Adeyinka

UPDATE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and safety considerations for all of our community members, Live Oak continues to offer primarily telehealth services. If you would like to explore working with one of our therapists, please fill out an intake form and a member of our team will be in touch shortly

Dear Live Oak community, we made the decision yesterday to close our offices until the end of March.  Effective today, we have moved all client services to telehealth platforms. We believe this is the safest decision we can make in order to reduce risk to our clients, staff, and community.  We are grateful to those who have encouraged us to make this transition faster than we might have thought we would.

We will continue to answer intake requests and will connect new clients with therapists via video and phone. We will do this in the hopes of reducing gaps in access to services. All who currently attend therapy at Live Oak have the option to use video and/or phone for sessions.  Therapists have and will reach out to explore how to attend to each individual’s unique situation. If you currently participate in therapy at Live Oak, and have concerns about your insurance coverage or payment options, please speak with your therapist for further details. All public trainings and psychotherapy groups will remain postponed until further notice.

To our fellow mental health and private practice partners in the community, we urge you to close your offices too. We ask you to make accommodations for all those participating in services within your organizations. None of us will do this perfectly, but together we can reduce the transmission of this virus, and effectively limit the amount of people with compromised immune systems who die from it.

In collaboration with other providers, we have become increasingly aware that as mental health providers in this particular moment, we hold great responsibility to model action for the health of the community; to model thinking and acting beyond our individual needs and those of our own organizations; to model thinking and acting for the greater good. We are in partnership with you all and welcome you to reach out to us to support our individual practices in making impactful change now and in the future.  Again, thank you to our peer organizations for helping us arrive at this decision.

We are resilient. You are resilient.

– Your Live Oak Team
