Values & Philosophy

Daily life for some can be isolating and debilitating; taking the first step to ask for help requires courage. I deeply understand that coming to a psychotherapist to talk about life’s struggles can feel intimidating and even unwelcoming for some. As a strengths-based therapist and yoga teacher, I am interested in hearing stories from people who do not feel like they fit in, whether it is because they are trauma survivors, people with mental illness, people of color, queer folks, or people who have been historically marginalized. I understand that identifying as a trauma survivor can lead to additional marginalization in society. With humility, compassion, and humor, I want to develop a place together where all people are welcomed and all stories are heard.

I draw on feminist relational, family systems, and psychodynamic approaches in my work with children, adolescents, and adults. I enjoy integrating art, literature, movement, and writing in my clinical work as a means of building relationships and exploring how life transitions and challenges lead us all toward rich, complex life journeys. I believe that each person’s path towards healing and wellness is unique, and I am prepared to offer a variety of interventions. I am a certified EMDR therapist, and I am also trained in the following: trauma-sensitive yoga, contemplative clinical practice (mindfulness and meditation), mind-body interventions, art therapy and relationship therapy. I speak English, Spanish, and Tagalog.
