Values & Philosophy

I started my career as a massage therapist working with individuals with chronic pain and complex conditions. In listening to these folks with both my ears and hands, it became clear to me that:

  • we don’t heal in the same way we were hurt
  • navigating every day can be hard and made harder when you’re not feeling your best
  • it would be incredibly helpful to update my repertoire and have more information

So, back to school I went. I brought with me the values I’d gained as a body worker including A love of working with people and collaborating with their care team and focus on taking the whole person and their environment into consideration

My experiences with a wide array of healing modalities have shown me that different disciplines look at health concerns through their own lenses. These lenses have shifted how I view others, resulting in an evolution in the ways I understand what I once thought I knew. I value wisdom in all forms of knowing, learning, and research. This includes everything from traditional practices to current neuroscience. My experiences and education have given me a wide breadth of information; however, I recognize that each individual has their own story to tell and way to tell it. From this view, I try to make room in therapy to collaborate in finding the words to make sense of and share the uniqueness of who we are.

As a queer individual, I feel that when given the chance to carve our own space and when we have the capacity to play and let go of constraints, the possibilities are expansive. This is not to ignore the difficulties or pain that we encounter or ignore the road bumps or potholes we find along the way. Nevertheless, these are the places where transformation takes place when we can look at what at times can feel like insurmountable rubble and, with support, find the first brick to lay a new foundation.
