Each of us arrive into therapy for different reasons. We may be seeking support, safety, connection, exploration, or change. Whatever the reason, when we enter therapy, we bring our whole self with us – body, mind, and spirit. I believe that within this body/mind/spirit connection are opportunities for expanding awareness, reclaiming safety and power, exploring purpose, and redefining our relationship to ourselves, others, and the world around us.
In our work together, you will find me intentionally curious about your body’s role in the therapy space. I will listen to your interest and comfort in connecting with your body, and we will collaborate on its role in our work together. There is not one way to explore this connection – it may be as subtle as attuning to your breath and posture, or may involve larger, more expressive movement. The use of movement in session is an opportunity for exploration and invites curiosity into the space. By doing so, we also begin to identify new ways to expand our self-awareness. You may notice how your emotions and thoughts live within your body, how your relationship to yourself reflects your interactions with the people around you, and how your patterns in movement may mirror other patterns of behavior that you desire to transform.
Within the therapy space, safety is my priority and I recognize the vulnerability we experience when bringing our whole self into focus. As we begin to build our relationship, I aim to honor and remain sensitive to your lived experience, including your own multiple, complex, and intersecting identities. I encourage questions and conversations around our differences, so that we can create a relationship built on trust, transparency, and authenticity.
