Are you a skilled psychotherapist who can manage a full caseload of individuals but is intimidated by the idea of working with couples? This workshop is for seasoned and new clinicians who want to feel more comfortable when faced with the chance to work with intimate partners together in the room.

Workshop Series Goals:

  • Develop Confidence in working with Couples
  • Increase Understanding differences in working with individuals vs dyads/polycules
  • Understand the importance of the system perspective and family of origin influences
  • Develop tools and techniques for working with couples.
  • Develop awareness of common pitfalls

In Part I of this workshop you will:

  • Learn to see the couple as a system.
  • Understand the clients goals and the system needs
  • Formulate a hypothesis
  • Identify the role that each client has in the system
  • What each person brings to the conflict
  • Understand Expectations, Roles, Rules
  • Explore Communication styles
