Judgment, loss of bodily autonomy, and refusal of the right to take up space. These concepts are issues that I have encountered in many different ways in my clinical work. They are also aspects of oppression shared by fat people, queer people, and trans people. In this workshop we will explore the intersection of these identities from a body size perspective and connect with the unique experiences of being fat in the world.

  1. Provide clinicians with accurate information about the relationship between fatness and health.
  2. Encourage clinicians to examine their personal biases around body size and health and encourage them to be more flexible in how they view and discuss bodies.
  3. Discuss clinical concerns through case discussion and experiential exercises.
